I decided to take advantage of Google's blogger. I think it's great that it is free and I probably would not have created a blog if it wasn't free. Thanks Google!
I picked this template because it was designed by Dave Shea. I knew about him previously through one of his websites www.csszengarden.com. When I first started learning about CSS I found myself returning to this website to see and study how people could re-arrange and compose a completely different looking website just by writing their own css file. Honestly, it was hard for me to believe at first that the HTML remained the same for the myriad of designs submited to css zen garden. Now, after many hours of CSS practice and experimentation I know how to wrangle the HTML without touching it using CSS. The trick is to create an HTML structure that is well suited to be styled with CSS. Eventually, I'll submit a design to css zen garden, when I have black belt-like coding technique.
Bla-bla-blog. I also see there is the option to edit the HTML on blogger. So if I am so ambitious, I could completely transform the look of my blog. I like that option!
I was also influenced by an old friend in creating this blog. He said he was just beginning a blog with some old buddies and I thought that was cool. He had some questions for me regarding web design and I was able to help him out. That felt good. Apparently it got the best of my curiosity and here I am starting up a blog for myself! I wonder what his blog is like. I don't really want to ask if I can go there. I feel like it would be better if he were to offer an invitation first. Well, whatever... I invited him to view my website so maybe he will invite me to view his blog. I would like that.
I don't want to spend to much time blogging but I think this is a good place for me to get some thoughts out since I'm on the web so much. One thing that is cool is that I was already a fan of Stopdesign who collaborated with Adaptive Path to re-design blogger. I'm fascinated by all of the new trends in web design. I also saw Zeldman has a template that users can pick as a layout option on blogger, too. The web-standard gurus are making their mark on the web. Sweet...
